The purpose of the FRWC site
is to make information about money management easily available. It has been created
primarily for women whose lives are in transition, those who may never have
had the responsibility for managing money in order to be self-reliant. It provides:
1. a new prevention section, Young Women
and Money; 2. an extensive discussion on Surviving a Money
Crisis; 3. printable brochures written in very basic language; 4. links to
other sites that have been chosen, based upon a set of
evaluation criteria; and 5. access to specific topics at other sites.
Women and Money, Level I,
features basic information on money management,
including budgeting and goal setting, saving, credit repair, and
smart shopping. Women and Money, Level II,
links to sites that feature the financial planning components of saving
for a home or a child's education, buying insurance, planning for
retirement, filing your own taxes, operating a small business, and charity.
The Safe Use and
Personal Safety Resources links should be the first stop for women who are still
living with a violent partner. They provides important information for
maintaining your safety and personal privacy on- and off-line.
Websites have been reviewed by FRWC, Inc. board members who have applied
evaluation criteria that they developed.
FRWC believes that teaching young women to be financially self-reliant will help to keep them
from being trapped in relationships with violent partners in the future.
To assist with that prevention effort, we have included
Children and Money. The pages contain
information to help parents teach their children about money management,
as well as links to sites with specific appeal to each age group.
