The last step in surviving a money crisis is to manage your
money every day. Being in a crisis is tiring and scary. It is hard to have to
work to survive and to then end every day realizing that you are just barely
surviving. But, looking every day at how much money you need and how much you
actually have will help you to stay focused on the job of getting past the
crisis. Try to find just five minutes each day when you can do a money
check-up. (It’s probably best not to do this right before you go to bed because
it might keep you awake.)
Keep looking for ways to reduce your expenses or increase
your income. Create small celebrations for breaking even, paying off an old
debt, finding a great bargain. By now, the worst should be over and your money
crisis should be stabilizing. Keep dreaming of the life you want to have. Write
down your dreams and the date by which you hope to attain them.
